Guettarda speciosa

Description

A small spreading tree to 5 m high; leaves large to 25 cm long, glossy green; flowers white to 4 cm long; fruit globular woody to 3 cm diameter, brown. Occurs on coastal dunes above high tide level and in coastal monsoon vine forest. Flowers and fruit year round.

Uses

The leaves are used as plates and in food preparation. It is also a good shade tree on coastal dunes as its leafy canopy provides dense shade.
